Handledare (supervisor)

A supervisor must be at least 24, hold a valid licence for the category for at least 5 of the last 10 years, and apply to Transportstyrelsen for handledarskap approval before supervising you.

A supervisor can be approved for up to 5 students at once, but can only supervise one of them at a time.

Apply to Transportstyrelsen via their e-service; approval typically takes up to four weeks, same as the learner's permit. The two applications don't depend on each other, so a prospective supervisor can apply as soon as they've found a student, without waiting for that student's permit to be approved first.
